About Me

Hi, I am Susan Nord and I have a private psychotherapy practice in Santa Monica California.

I received my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University in 1993 and finished my therapy training as a member of the clinical staff at Mid-Peninsula Family Service in the Bay Area.

I was raised in Boston, Massachusetts where I completed my B.A. in Education at Simmons College and worked as a teacher for 10 years at both the junior high and elementary school levels.     

 

Over the years, I have created and led therapeutic workshops at Kaiser Permanente, taught classes at the UCLA School of Medicine. and given talks at numerous companies. My most recent workshops include:

   "The Myth of the Perfect Family"
   "Children and Divorce"
   "Emotional Eating"
   "Raising twins"
   "Coping with Homework"

In 1970, I received a California Life Teaching Credential and I have been a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) since 1991. I also have a Certification in domestic violence counseling and critical incident debriefing.

I currently lead three therapy groups for men and women focusing on parenting and grand parenting skills, raising multiples, and anger management.

My expertise is in relationships, depression, anxiety, work problems and parenting.

My son Jeffrey Nord, MFT also works as a therapist in Los Angeles specializing in helping young adults and couples. My daughter Jessica is a UCLA trained psychiatrist who works with veterans.
